I just wanted to share some thoughts after my pastor, Steve McCoy, spoke beautifully about pride versus humility, and how it relates to prayer. Do you ever find yourself giving God your “Christmas List”?
When we come from a place of pride, we might have thoughts like “What’s in my best interest?” Do you ever ask yourself that? When was the last time you did?
What if, instead, you turn that around and ask “What’s in God’s best interest?” You may be familiar with scripture telling us that God gives us the desires of our heart, but there are surrounding verses that give it some really important context. It’s not that God just grants us whatever we want in life. We will want to ask ourselves if our desire is in alignment with His Word. When we seek His will, His desires will become our desires. I like to ask myself, especially during prayer, “What would you have me do Lord?”
I invite you to share this video and thoughts with those around you. How can you help them move forward in their relationship with God? How can they help you with that same relationship?

Update: I misspoke in the video and said that our desires become God’s desires, when in fact it’s the reverse! When we seek His will, his desires become our desires, not the other way around. It’s correct in the text above. Sorry for the confusion!
