Do you ever find yourself focusing on what you don’t want in your life? Do you start to make change and then find yourself going back to old ways?
Over the years, I’ve heard a lot of people focus on what they don’t want. I don’t want to be overweight. I don’t want to be unhealthy. I don’t want this stress in my life. I don’t want this job anymore.
It can be easy to get swept up in this line of thought, but I’m challenging you to focus on what you do want. It’s so important that we phrase our goals and dreams as wants and not don’t wants because our brain instantly visualizes that goal. So when we say, for example, “I don’t want to be fat anymore” our brain will actually imagine being overweight. But when we frame this positively, “I want to be healthier” instead of “I don’t want to be fat anymore,” our brains will visualize a healthier version of ourselves!
We want to keep our minds fixated on the positive as we move towards our goals. Wouldn’t you rather fuel your journey by visualizing the positive outcome rather than keep your brain stuck on your current reality?
